As I recall, this was Dad's attempt at a painting called "Genesis," which was to be a "true" reproduction of the birth of Christ. Alas, he overworked the paint, and eventually "resurrected" it by turning it into a more Picasso-esque version. (In fact, I'm glad he overworked the paint!)
